This walk takes you to Black–a-tor Copse, one of Britain’s best examples of high altitude oak woodland and one of only two oak woods at over 1300 on Dartmoor.

Description : Moorland tracks.Bogs. One rocky downhill section. Paths muddy if wet. Uphill sections but not steep

Distance : 7.5km/4.6miles

Time : Allow 3.5 hours

Grade : Most of the walk is of moderate grade but the downhill section from Black Tor requires some scrambling over large rocks

Stiles : 0

Dog Friendly: 2 gates. Restrictions during lambing season

Start/Finish : The walks starts from a 15 minute drive from The Oxenham Arms. Meldon Reservoir Car Park, (SX562917, free)
