The Chagford Room at The Oxenham Arms is a large dual aspect room. Accessed at the end of a corridor and located privately over the top of the coach house in the front Manor House section of the building.

With beautiful views to the rear on to Dartmoor's Cosdon Beacon Hill and to the front over the lovely village of South Zeal itself.

The focal point of the room is the beautiful antique English Oak superking canopy four poster bed.

Chagford Room has a lovely fully refurbished bathroom with bath, electric shower, WC and washbasin.

The room has two comfortable chairs Lloyd Loom armchairs and a table, also a window seat.There is also a desk with mirror,  a period oak wardrobe and chest of drawers. A corner mounted LCD flat screen TV with freeview, DVD and radio.

Tea, coffee  and chocolate making facilities are in the room , welcome cookies and bottles water are included. The bedding and curtains are all handmade and hand sewn by a local seamstress. Luxury 100% Egyptian cotton bedding and a lovely comfortable pocket sprung mattress compliment the grand superking size oak four poster .

In the bathroom, fluffy 100% cotton towels are used and complimentary vanity products.

This room is of historical significance .Formerly used by The Reverend Sabine Baring-Gould (painting above) famous for writing the hymn Onward Christian Soldiers this room was his residence when visiting the local parishes in this area in Victorian times. In those times, the road to the front of The Oxenham Arms (The Mariners Way) would have been full of soldiers and sailors walking and riding down to Tavistock and Plymouth.
